Beijing: Dunhuang City in China's Gansu Province witnessed a gigantic sandstorm, stretching over a hundred metres high, according to the regional meteorological department. The town is located on the border of the Gobi Desert. The sandstorm hit at about 3 pm on Monday, which led to risky driving conditions. The local police were forced to close major roads and order drivers to get their vehicles off superhighways amid lessened visibility.
Here a viral video of the incident shows the wall-like storm covering urban areas and highways. Meantime, in the US state of Utah, a sandstorm killed eight people after a huge 22-vehicle pileup on a Utah highway. Of the eight dead, four were children. At least 10 people were taken to hospitals, including three in critical condition, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. Ground and air ambulances were used to transport crash victims.
