3.2 magnitude earthquake hits Manipur

A 3.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Manipur on Thursday night. As per the data of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter Scale hit the state at 10.03 pm on Thursday in Manipur.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the epicentre was 36 km south of Moirang under Bishnupur district in Manipur.  National Centre for Seismology took to Twitter and wrote, "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 17-12-2020, 22:03:20 IST, Lat: 24.15 & Long: 93.74, Depth: 36 Km , Location: 38km S of Moirang, Manipur."

Earlier, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported two back-to-back earthquakes of 2.8 and 4.0 magnitude on the Richter scale rocked Manipur on November 21, 2020. The first earthquake of magnitude 2.8 on the Richter scale hit the Senapati area of Manipur at a depth of 10 km at 6. 54 am on November 21. The second earthquake hit at the depth of 30 km and tremors were felt at 10.19 am on the same day. No injuries or damage to buildings by the earthquakes have been reported yet.
