New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday said that on a petition by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for contempt proceedings against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly airing an objectionable program in the case of Sunanda Pushkar's death will hear next week.
Justice Mukta Gupta said that the petition filed on behalf of Tharoor will be heard on December 21. Tharoor has also urged to stop Goswami from airing a program that defames him. The journalist's lawyer told the court that a petition has been filed by Goswami to dismiss the petition filed by the Congress leader. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal and Vikas Pahwa and advocate Gaurav Gupta, appearing for Tharoor, told the court that the September 10 order asked Goswami to be restrained while reporting on the case, but Arnab telecasted a program on October 6 which was abusive and objectionable.
The petition filed on behalf of Tharoor claimed that the show was telecast in violation of the affidavit given in the court by Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Goswami.
