The day was also the same and the field too, the only difference was the format. India made its debut in Test cricket at Lord's on 25 June 1932 and on the same day in 1983, it became world champion in ODI cricket. When the Indian team led by CK Naidu landed to play their first Test match, they gave a tough fight to England despite losing the match in three days. If there was a difference in the match, then there was talk of England captain Douglas Jardine who was born in India, due to which he was once given the command of the Indian team. Douglas Jardine played 79 and 85 runs in that match and India lost by 158 runs. On the other hand, when the Indian team led by Kapil Dev descended to play the World Cup final for the first time, no one expected that he would be able to become the champion. When the Indian team was dismissed for 183, it became confident and sure, but in front of India's medium-speed bowlers, the West Indies team was dismissed for 140 runs. If the Indian team was out for 189 and 187 in their first Test match, then they could not progress beyond 183 runs in their first ODI World Cup final. Kapil Dev told his colleagues before the start of the West Indies innings, I just want to say that enjoy the next three hours to the fullest.

If we give our best in the next three hours, then these memories will remain attached to us. And then it happened. The way Mohammad Nisar gave India a brilliant start by bowling Herbert Sutcliffe for two runs 51 years ago, in the same way, Balwinder Singh Sandhu spread the gills of Gordon Greenidge and stirred the Indians. CK Naidu's team was inexperienced but Kapil Dev's team was full of enthusiasm. Kapil Dev doubled this enthusiasm by taking a difficult catch of Vivian Richards. Vivian Richards later said in an interview, "I can say with certainty that no one could catch that catch except Kapil Dev. He was the best player who changed Indian cricket."

Richards then scored 33 runs off 28 balls with the help of seven fours and it can be guessed how easy it was to claim the victory. Then Richards played the ball of Madanlal in the air over midwicket. Kapil ran backwards from mid-on and converted him into a catch and from here the attitude of the match also changed. If CK Nayudu's team made a lively presence in international cricket on 25 June 1932 by crushing England's top order (19 runs for three at a time), then Kapil Dev's co-players would have ruled India's world cricket in 1983.
