Amritsar: The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has provided 'X' category security of the CRPF to 4 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Punjab. The home ministry has taken this decision after assessing the security based on the report of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The ministry has issued an order to the CRPF to provide 24-hour security to these BJP leaders.
According to the report, the BJP leaders who are being provided this security include former Punjab cabinet ministers Balbir Singh Sidhu and Gurpreet Singh Kanga. Along with them, former MLAs Jagdeep Singh Nakai and Amarjeet Singh Tikka will also be provided CRPF security. It is interesting to know that the four leaders have recently quit Congress and joined the BJP.
Earlier in October, the central government had provided 'Y' category security to 5 BJP leaders in Punjab based on the IB report. The leaders who were given this security include former MP Amrik Singh Aliwal, former MLA Harjinder Singh Thekedar, former MLA Harchand Kaur, former MLA Prem Mittal, and former organization general secretary Kamaldeep Saini.
