Mumbai: The number of accidents in Maharashtra hospitals is not going to stop. The latest incident took place on Wednesday morning (April 28, 2021) at Prime Criti Care Hospital in Mumbra, Thane. A fire broke out here at 3:40 a.m. when most of the patients were sleeping. The process of shifting of patients started during the fire and 4 people died.
The remaining patients were shifted to another hospital in Anan-Phanan. Rescue operations are still underway. "A fire broke out at Prime Criticare Hospital in Mumbra, Thane at around 3:40 pm today," the Thane Municipal Corporation said in its statement. Two fire tenders and a rescue vehicle are present at the spot. The fire fighting is underway. Four people lost their lives while shifting patients to another hospital".
The hospital is located in Kausa area of Mumbra. It is a non-covid hospital where at least 20 patients were admitted at the time of the fire incident. There was a short circuit in the meter room of the hospital which led to the fire. This was followed by a fire in the ground plus one facility running in a residential building. After which 3 fire engines and 5 ambulances were called immediately. Mumbra-Kalwa MLA Jitendra Awad also reached the spot.
