Gumla: In a shocking incident, a 4-year-old boy died instead of a goat sacrifice in Gumla. On receiving the news, the police reached the spot and recovered the body of the child and sent it for post-mortem. Police are investigating the case.

The incident took place in Lalpur village under the Ghaghra police station area of Gumla district. On Tuesday, on the occasion of Mahanavami, the public sacrifice of goats was being made one after the other at the Devi Mandap of the village. During this, the sharp weapon broke and hit the 4-year-old child Vimal Oraon. The child was seriously injured and was rushed to Ghaghra Community Health Centre for treatment, but the child died on the way. The villagers celebrating Durga Puja have been in shock after the accident. Let us know that due to Durga Puja in every village, the tradition of sacrificing goats is done in the Devi Mandap. On Tuesday, two goats had been sacrificed before the incident, when the third goat's neck was hit, the part of the weapon broke and hit the chest of Vimal Oraon, a 4-year-old son of Deepak Oraon standing in the crowd.

After the same injury, the child was badly stung. There was chaos on the spot. On receiving the news, Ghaghra police station in-charge Amit Chaudhary reached the village with the team force. The child's body was taken into custody. The body has been sent to Sadar Hospital Gumla for post-mortem. According to the SHO, the police are searching the case keeping every aspect in mind. A pall of gloom has descended on the entire village after the incident. At the same time, the entire family, including the deceased Vimal Oraon's mother Birsi Devi and father Deepak Oraon, are in a bad condition.
