Haryana Government has taken another big step in doubling farmers' income through animal husbandry. The government has decided to give free livestock to farmers living below the poverty line. Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said that this work will be done under MNREGA scheme in the rural development department.

Chautala said that "Haryana is one of the leading states of the country in the areas of agribusiness. The state government wants that due to small agricultural holdings, people should also do animal husbandry business along with agriculture so that their income can increase. Keeping this in mind, the government has decided to make free cattle-sheds for scheduled castes, widows, women-headed households, BPL and farmers with small holdings as per their preference".

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the target of constructing 40,000 such cattle-sheds by March 2021 is set in the first phase. While 10,000 sheds will be completed by 30 September 2020. A total of 200 crore rupees will be spent on making sheds for the animals of the poor in the state. Chautala said that "Even today there are many poor families who do not have shed for the animals. Due to which they have to suffer a lot of damage. He told that while the animals of the poor will be safe from this scheme, the needy people will also get employment in making shed. The Haryana Government has also started making cattle farmer credit card on the lines of Kisan Credit Card. Under which a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh will be found at only 4 percent rate. For this, the farms of 1,40,000 cattlemen have been filled up so far.
