Dehradun: In Uttarakhand's Haldwani jail, 44 inmates have been found HIV positive, including a woman. When 44 prisoners were found to be HIV positive in the test, there was an uproar in the jail administration. However, the jail administration is not ready to say anything in this regard. All positive patients are being treated at Sushila Tiwari Hospital.

Dr. Paramjeet Singh told that twice a month, a team from the hospital goes to the jail for a routine checkup and all the prisoners are examined. Those who have even a slight problem are cured on the spot by giving them medicine. Those who have more problems are treated in hospitals. The jail administration is also conducting routine check-ups of the prisoners so that HIV-infected prisoners can be treated in time. ART centres have been set up for HIV patients.

Dr. Paramjit Singh of Sushila Tiwari Hospital said that there can be many reasons for HIV/AIDS, which should not be looked at clearly in any one aspect. Free treatment and medicines are given to any inmate who is found HIV positive in the jail. However, the administration has refused to say anything in this matter. However, many questions are being raised about the jail administration's handling of this type of matter.
