These days due to changes in various social and physical conditions the problem associated with your mental health is increasing day by day. Meanwhile, awareness for mental health is increasing which is a good sign. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. 1. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

You can also define your Mental health as  a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community. There are various signs of problems related to your mental health.

·         Social disadvantage, poverty or debt.

These days importance of Ayurvedic treatment is increasing. Various people are opting for Ayurvedic treatment for physical and mental health-related problems. There are following Ayurvedic remedies for your mental health.

Ashwagandha: Ashwagandha plays very important role in Ayurveda.  This herb is full of adaptogens that help the body to regulate stress. It also helps in boosting brain function and improves cortisol levels, and at the same time, lowers blood sugar It also  promotes healthy brain functionality.  Ashwagndha elevates your temper, eventually subsiding your mood swings.  It also help you to fight with Depression and Anxiety.

Turmeric: Turmeric is a key ingredient in several food recipes and home remedies. Turmeric is rich in anti-inflammatory properties, while also being an antioxidant. It  contains curcumin, and it helps in increasing blood flow which prevents heart diseases. Turmeric helps in boosting the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) that shields one from mental diseases like depression and Alzheimer’s. Both the application of Turmeric in the form of pack or drinking turmeric milk is healthy.

Brahmi : Another powerful herb for treating clinical mental health related diseases, and dealing with stress. It contains Bacosides, a bio-chemical helps to rebuild brain tissues and hence has a positive effect on memory, concentration and intelligence. It targets cortisol, widely known as the “stress hormone, ” which helps manage stress and mild anxiety.

Meditation: There are various ayurvedic ways to deal with the problem related to your Mental health. Take breaks during your work or school day to breathe, rest your eyes, internalize or go for a nature walk.  Taking care of your organs  is part of a healthy Dinacharya that protects our mental health.  

Massage: Massage or therapies like Nasya, Abhyanga and Shirodhara. Nasya it involves the application of warm medicated oils or herbal remedies in the nostrils in a therapeutic manner and studies have shown it has a calming effect on the mind, improves clarity and enhances memory. You could start a Pratimarsha or daily Nasya with 1-2 drops of Anu Taila, Sesame oil or ghee. Shirodhara or continuous pouring of warm, medicated oil on the forehead is traditionally used for anxiety, insomnia and PTSD. Abhyanga – therapeutic massages with regular oils like sesame or coconut oils or medicated oils.
