Kolkata: The difficulties of the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal seem to be increasing. Recently, a petition has been filed in the Kolkata High Court seeking a CBI inquiry into 5 rape cases in the state. While hearing this petition, the court has demanded the case diary and status report from the state government. Along with this, in all cases, the victims and their witnesses have been ordered to be given police protection till the next hearing. The court has fixed April 26 for the next hearing of the case.

Let us inform that in the last few weeks, 5 horrific incidents of rape have been registered in West Bengal. One of these cases is of Nadia, in which the name of Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader's son was also revealed in the gang rape and murder of a minor girl. Along with this, two incidents of rape have come to light in South 24 Parganas district. One incident is from Pingla in West Midnapore district, while one incident has taken place in Birbhum district. Public interest litigation was filed by the women lawyers of the High Court regarding these matters. The petition demanded that these cases should be investigated by the CBI or by an independent agency outside West Bengal.

Hearing the matter, the Chief Justice of the High Court, Justice Prakash Srivastava and Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj said during the hearing on Tuesday that most of the victims in these incidents are minors. He said that serious allegations have been made in these cases and the administration should file a status report on these cases. Apart from this, the case diary should also be presented before the court in the next hearing.
