Islamabad: Five people have been reported to have been killed in an explosion at Pakistan's Karachi University, while several others are said to have been injured. According to local media reports in Pakistan, the blast took place in a van near Karachi University's Confucius Institute. The van caught fire after the explosion.

Pakistani media has confirmed the death of five people in a van blast near Karachi University's Confucius Institute. In a video of the fire that has surfaced on the Karachi University campus, a white van is seen with flames. Plumes of smoke are rising from the top of the van, while the windows of nearby buildings look broken. Reports said the van turned towards the Confucius Institute next to the Department of Commerce, during which it exploded and caught fire.
 
Local police say the van exploded and the fire was caused by natural causes. Superintendent of Police Gulshan said the sound of the blast was very loud, so the bomb disposal squad was also called to the spot, but it was all due to natural reasons.
