The government of Andhra has stepped in to support the families of those killed in a crane accident in Visakhapatnam. Hindustan Shipyard has persuaded the management to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of the deceased. "We have taken steps to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of the deceased," they quoted. To this end, Tourism Minister Avanthi Srinivas met representatives of the Hindustan Shipyard ownership and the contractors working for the respective employees. He said the injured were being treated better immediately.

He said Hindustan Shipyard had issued directives to contractors to financially support the families of the deceased. He said steps would be taken to pay compensation of Rs 50 lakh to each family. He said the government would take care of the families of the deceased. He said a comprehensive inquiry into the incident had been launched on behalf of the government.
