Bhubaneswar: A painful train accident has occurred in Odisha. The Coromandel Express and a goods train collided with each other near Bahanaga station in Balasore. The collision was so severe that five coaches of the Coromandel Express (12841) carrying passengers derailed. According to the report, 350 people have been injured in the accident so far and 50 people have died. 

However, no data has been released by the Railways yet. The injured were admitted to Soro CHC, Gopalpur CHC and Khantapara PHC. Teams have reached the spot for search and rescue operation. An additional rescue team of 26 members of Odisha Fire and Emergency Services has been rushed to the spot.

A compensation of Rs 10 lakh has been announced for the kin of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for minor injuries. The Chief Secretary of Odisha said that about 50 ambulances have been sent to take people. A large number of buses have been pressed into service to shift the injured to hospitals. 

The Balasore Collector has also been directed to reach the spot to make all necessary arrangements and inform the SRC if any additional help is needed from the state level, the Special Relief Commissioner's office said.
