New Delhi: In the fight against COVID, the capacity of investigation is continuously increasing. During the last 24 hours, a record 7 lakh samples have been tested to detect Covid-19 infection. Meanwhile, more than 63 thousand new cases have also appeared and a record of more than 55 thousand people recovered. The total number of infected has crossed 22 lakhs. However, more than 43 thousand people have died, and more than 14 lakh patients have also been cured.
The Central Health Department has informed that more than 6 lakh samples are being tested daily in the country for the past few days. Dr Lokesh Sharma, scientist and media coordinator at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), said that over 7 lakh 19 thousand samples were tested on Saturday. To detect Covid-19, doing 500 tests every minute and the capacity of testing has increased to more than 5 lakhs per day. So far, two crores 41 lakh six thousand 535 samples have been tested.
The department has informed that more number of infected cases are being received only due to a large number of investigations. States have been asked to focus on locating patients, isolating them and starting treatment immediately. It is also being said that according to the information received from the PTI and other sources from the states and union territories till 10 pm, more than 63 thousand new cases have been reported since late Saturday night. Meanwhile, 55,931 patients have been cured, which is by far the highest for patients recovering in a day.
