Chennai: Jallikattu, a famous sport played in Tamil Nadu, injures a large number of people every time. The game also accuses the organizers of cruelty to animals. According to Madurai police, about 58 people were injured in the Jallikattu game on Thursday. Bullocks are controlled by players in Jallikattu. Jallikattu was being played on Thursday at Avaniapuram on the occasion of Pongal, a festival of crop production. In the meantime, about 58 people were injured. The injured include players as well as spectators.

The event was organised by State Co-operative Minister Sellur K Raju, which also included the condition of adherence to corona rules. The event was organised from 8 am to 4 pm, with 783 bulls and about 651 players who controlled them. About 20,000 people were deployed in the event and 20,000 policemen were deployed to do not create any chaos.

Former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi had also arrived in Tamil Nadu on Thursday, where Rahul Gandhi also attended jallikattu event at Madurai on Pongal festival. There, Rahul Gandhi said, "I have come to see a very popular (Jallikattu) event because I believe that Tamil culture, Tamil language and Tamil history are essential for India's future and need to be respected."
