Srinagar: Six people have been reported missing amid heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of the Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, following which the Army has launched a search operation. An official gave information in this regard on Wednesday.
Disaster Management Director Amir Ali said that six people from Warwan village under Kishtwar had gone on foot from Anantnag district of south Kashmir via Margan Top and had called more than 20 hours before from Margan Top. He said that since then there is no information regarding these people. Ali said that the army has started a search operation, but nothing is known about them yet, and it is feared that they are trapped in the snow.
Let us know that the police said that more than 50 tourists stranded in Sonmarg have been evacuated safely after the heavy snowfall. Police further said that people have been requested not to go to higher places in view of the inclement weather and continuous heavy snowfall.
