Food is a very important part of our life. Our physical and mental health totally depends on what we eat and how we eat. The way eat affect our body and causes various problems. What we eat matters but what we do after we eat also matters. There are times when we adopt some habits after eating that also reduce the effectiveness of our healthy diet. Such habits or routines also affect our digestion. Here are some things which you need to avoid for a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Avoid having Tea or coffee: It is  a very common habit to drink tea or coffee immediately after heaving the  meal. Tea leaves are acidic and it will affect the digestion process. If you consume protein in the meal, the acid from the tea will harden the protein content, making it difficult to digest. Drinking tea or coffee immediately after a meal will also interfere with iron absorption by the body. You can have it after an hour.

Strict no to Bathing: You might get shocked after hearing this but bathing after a meal delays digestion. The blood around the stomach flows to other parts of the body during a shower instead of helping with digestion it affects the whole digestion process.

Avoid Smoking: According to a study smoking a cigarette after a meal is equivalent to smoking 10 cigarettes. Smoking is harmful to your body and you should not smoke anyhow. At least try to avoid it after having the meal.

Avoid having fruits:  Already your stomach is filled with food and then you even eat healthy items it will affect your health. When you eat them after meals, they get mixed with the food consumed and limit its absorption. This may cause digestive problems and also change the nutritional value of the food.

No to Sleep: Immediately sleeping after having meal is bad and almost everyone is aware about this fact but we cannot control ourselves. But If you love your after-meal naps then it’s time to bid adieu to them because as per the expert, it’s a harmful habit. Basically, when you sleep after having your meal, the digestive juices produced by the stomach rise up and cause heartburn. It also gave birth to several other problem like weight gain.


Strict no to exercising or dancing: Exercising or dancing right after meals can disrupt your digestion process. You may even experience vomiting, stomach puffiness, and loose motions.
