Steamed Modak is a popular Maharashtrian recipe that is traditionally prepared on every occasion and is distributed as prasad among the worshipers. It is a mouth-watering dessert recipe that can be relished after a hefty meal. This easy recipe is made using just a few ingredients and does not require much effort from your side. The best thing about this dish is that it is dipped into the rich chocolate sauce to amp up its flavour.
Ingredients:
1 & 1/2 cup coconut
50 gm cashews
3/4 cup milk
1 cup rice flour
1 cup water
1/2 cup chocolate sauce
50 gm pistachios
1 dash powdered green cardamom
1/2 cup jaggery
2 teaspoon ghee
salt as required
2 tablespoon grated coconut
Steps to make:
Step 1: Place a pan over medium flame and add shredded coconut, milk along with jaggery in it. Cook this for a while and keep stirring continuously.
Step 2: Now, add the chopped dry fruits and a dash of cardamom powder to the milk. Simmer for a while and then keep aside for cooling.
Step 3: Now, in another pan, boil water over medium flame and add rice flour, ghee, and salt in it. Let the mixture thicken.
Step 4: Put this mix onto a flat plate and knead it into a soft dough. Now, take small portions from the dough and flatten them out in the shape of small discs.
Step 5: Now, add the coconut filling to these discs and pinch the edges into the shape of a modak.
Step 6: Steam the prepared modaks for about 20 minutes in a steamer and once they are cooked, dip the steamed modak into chocolate sauce.
Step 7: Garnish the chocolate coated modaks with grated coconut and enjoy!
