Mumbai: Seven persons from a Dalit family have been brutally beaten up in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. The seven were reportedly beaten up by the villagers as they suspected that they were practicing witchcraft. All of them have been beaten by hanging from a pole at the chowk. All of them are said to be in such a severe condition that 5 of them are in a critical condition and have been admitted to the General Hospital in Chandrapur. Out of the seven persons, four are women and three are elderly persons, under the information received. 13 persons have been arrested in the case and a case was registered against them.
What's the matter- This is the case of Jivati Taluka (Block) of Chandrapur district. The elderly and women have been severely beaten up here on suspicion of witchcraft. All this is said to have happened in Vani Khurd village on the border of Telangana and Maharashtra. Four women and three elderly people have been tied to pillars and beaten up in the village suspected of performing black magic. The villagers remained silent spectators during the thrashing and no one came forward to save them.
Let me tell you that all those who have been severely beaten belong to Dalit families. Their names are Sahebrao Uke (48), Shivraj Kamble (74), Eknath Uke (70), Shantabai Kamble (53), Dhammashila Uke (38), Panchfoola Uke (55), Prayagbai Uke (64). Five of the seven victims are in critical condition and all of them have been admitted to the district hospital in Chandrapur. Police rushed to the spot as soon as they came to know about the incident and rescued the victims from the crowd.
