The 75th season of the Santosh Trophy National Football Championship is set to begin on April 16 at Malappuram in Kerala with a match between arch-rivals West Bengal and Punjab. All the matches of the tournament will be played at the two venues in Malappuram- Manjeri Payyanad Stadium and Kottappady Stadium.
It is reported that the first match of the tournament between Punjab and Bengal is going to be held at the Kottappadi Stadium. A total of 10 teams will take part in the tournament and the final is scheduled to be held on May 2 from Manjeri Payyanad. These 10 teams have been announced to be divided into two groups of five each, with the top two teams of each group making it to the semi-finals. The last four matches are scheduled to be played on April 28 and 29.
According to reports, it is being said that the tournament is being organized in Malappuram with the help of the Kerala government. Group A: Meghalaya, Punjab, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala. Group B: Includes big names like Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Sena, Manipur.
