Jaipur: The Indian Army has deployed eight contingents for flood relief operations in the districts of Rajasthan. Due to the torrential rains in Rajasthan, a flood-like situation has been created. Giving information, an official has told that, "Relief operations are going on in Kota, Jhalawar, Dholpur and Sawai Madhopur districts of Rajasthan".
On Monday, the India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Gujarat, Konkan and Goa and coastal areas of Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Army officials said on Monday that lifeboats have been pressed into service to evacuate people stranded in flood-hit areas in Rajasthan. In addition to the army, contingents of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are also engaged in rescue operations in flood-affected areas.
The flood-like situation has arisen due to heavy and continuous rains in Rajasthan since last week. The low-lying areas have been flooded after the Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh administrations opened the gates of several barrages to draw water from the dams. At the same time, the situation is very bad in Gujarat due to continuous rains.
