Ahmedabad: Doctor and three nurses were suspended for lapse in duty

Ahmedabad : Day after four patients who lost their eye vision rear cataract operation in LG Hospital,where  a team of three doctors wrere appointed by AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation authorities visited the hospital to examine the incident and find out how the operations got spoiled up.

AMC team will again visit the hospital in the rear few days.The Civic body had taken an action against the senior doctor and three nurses who involved in the following incident.

However,Senior Resident Dr Gazala Mansuri was terminated, three nurses — Veena Prajapati, Femida Saiyed and Veronica Christian — were suspended for lapse in duty.

Aside,the case cause notices were served on Superintendent of Hospital Dr Yogendra S Modi and HOD and Professor (ophthalmology department) Dr Beena Desai.

I K Patel(Deputy Municipal Commissioner)said, "We have taken the matter very seriously and acted immediately against the guilty. A three-member committee has been formed to probe the incident.The committee consists of Dr Shashank Patel, Director of Eye Institute in Civil Hospital, Dr Bharat Ghodhadra, Medical Superintendent of  GCS Cancer Hospital and Dr Mariyam Mansuri, Professor of Ophthalmology in Civil Hospital. The committee will submit its report within seven days. We are also taking utmost care of patients and will try our best to restore their vision."
