Lucknow: Metro train will start from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh's capital today. It will be inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at 12 noon, but before the commencement of the metro, former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also jumped in the competition to take credit.

Akhilesh Yadav tweeted several photos yesterday and said, "The engine had already run it. The coaches had to come back."

Lucknow Metro was former CM Akhilesh Yadav's dream project. He has also shown the green flag for this trial run, but now the Yogi Government will start it for the public. Although this train will travel just eight kilometers, a large population of Lucknow will be of great help for the journey.

About one and half years after the formation of a samajvadi government in UP, Akhilesh Yadav planned to run a metro in Lucknow and in December 2013, the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation was formed. About 23 km in Lucknow, the Metro was designed to run from Lucknow airport to Munshipuliya area. In the meantime, Krishnanagar, Alambagh, Charbagh, Hazratganj, Indiranagar are located.

The project of this Metro is 6880 crores. According to Metro officials, the full Metro work will be done until March 2019. Excavation is going on for the underground. About 1100 people can travel in one train at a time.
