Amarnath Yatra updates: 6 killed, 3 injured in a landslide on Baltal route

Baltal: A landslide on the Baltal route of the Amarnath yatra in Ganderbal district has taken six lives on Tuesday.  The landslide knocked a camp between Railpatri and Brarimarg on the Baltal route killing five males and 1 female while 3 others were reportedly wounded.

The injured have been shifted to the hospital. The identity of those died is yet to be found out as the bodies are being to the Baltal base hospital. Out of the four injured one is said to be in critical condition.  Worth mention here SDRF, MRT, and ITBP were tasked to track and find any more casualties.

Yesterday one pony and one out of four who were carrying a palanquin slipped and died. Before this, a slight flash flood hit a car parking at the Baltal base camp, but there were no news of any kind oof casualties, as PTI reported.

It is noted that Nearly 3,499 pilgrims left for the valley for Amarnath Yatra on Tuesday. About 1,200 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp and 2,262 pilgrims were moved towards the Pahalgam route. Almost 36,000 pilgrims have performed the pilgrim this year which commenced on June 28 and will end on August 26.
