Deepika Padukone is all set to play as an acid attack survivor in her next movie. She also met Laxmi Agarwal on whom the film is based. The movie is directed by Raazi director Meghna Gulzar.

Following the footsteps of Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma, From this movie, Deepika is also making her debut as a producer. However the movie is untitled and based on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The movie is next project of Deepika after Padmaavat. After taking a break of 10 months Deepika selected a broad and sincere subject as a producer whilst doing movie.

 Taking a great move, Deepika had been waiting for the right project to make a return to movies post a year. For those who don’t know Laxmi Agarwal is an inspiration for many girls. She was 15 year old when a 32-year-old man had attacked her with acid. This man who also an acquaintance of Laxmi’s family, was in an unrequited love with her and hence, resorted to this frightening act to take his revenge. After surviving, Laxmi had been advocating against acid attacks through collecting 27000 signatures for a petition to restrain the sale of acids in the country.
