Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Sep 20 (NT): With the mind not to disturb the environment, in Chhattisgarh's Raipur, a statue of Lord Ganesha has been made using 11 types of grains for Ganesh Utsav.

This environmental friendly elephant headed idol of Ganesha is made by Shri Bal Maharaj Ganesh Utsav Samiti Eco-Friendly Group. The head of Samiti Vinay Kumar Sahu said that the aim is to make Lord Ganesha idol using grains to battle pollution.
They used 11 types of grains for making the Lord Ganesha idol. He added that the focus behind making the idol using grains is that after immersion these will be eaten by the water animals like fishes and tortoises. This idol of Ganesha cost Rs 21, 000.
The Hindu festival is dedicated to the Lord of wisdom for new beginnings. The 10-day festival ends with the final immersion od the idol also called the Visarjan - of Lord Ganesha's idol on Anant chaturdashi- the last day of Ganesha Utsav. On 23rd September the idols of Son of lord Shiva will be immersed with full fervor.
