Former PM Manmohan Singh suggests PM Modi to set example by conduct

New Delhi: On the alert for Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his duty to set examples through his performence, Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh asked for him to exercise restraint when rallying in states that are not gvernment ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Manmohan Singh also added that PM Modi must be cautious of the type of language he uses because people from all generations listen to him and as the PM, it is his responsibility to do so.

Responding to a reporter's question about suggestion for the politicians of the nation on how to have dignity and decorum in this polarized atmosphere, Singh stated that he would not use the same words for the present Prime Minister as he did during 2014 polls.

"Last week I was asked whether I would use the same words for the present Prime Minister which I used during 2014 elections. I said no I will not repeat those words. My advice to the Prime Minister is that he should exercise due restraint becoming of the office of the PM," Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Moreover, Singh stressed the fact that his association with the chief ministers of BJP during his time as the prime minister was fine adding that they not at all discriminated against any BJP ruled state.

"I would certainly say that my relations with the governments of Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh were very good. We never discriminated against the BJP ruled state and I said Shivraj ji would himself certify that I am so," he stated.
