The government has rejected the copy of the reply to the notice issued by the Indian government to Facebook in connection with the social media network Facebook providing information about people to Cambridge Analytica. The government says that Facebook has provided that information on the condition of privacy.

PTI had sought this information by applying under RTI, but the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, "The received response can not be shared because the companies sent their reply with the condition of privacy. The company has requested the information given in the letter to be considered confidential and it has been said that he has given it for official use. "

Through the RTI, a copy of the reply to the notice sent to Facebook and Cambridge Analytica was sought from the Ministry. In response to the government's notice, Facebook had said that only 335 people of India were directly affected by installing an app and 5,62,120 people were affected partly due to their involvement with these consumers.

About the steps taken by the government to prevent further misuse of data consumers' information sold to these 4 Chinese companies, the ministry said that it has to stop the theft of information in the country. Has constituted an expert committee to prepare the framework for this. In response to the RTI application, the Ministry said, "This is an ongoing effort. The government has constituted an expert committee to prepare information protection framework in the country and its report is likely to come soon. "
