Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Odisha for a three-day stay starting from November 29, focusing on significant national security discussions. During this visit, he will participate in the all-India conference of Director Generals of Police (DGP) and Inspector Generals of Police (IGP) in Bhubaneswar.

State Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced that the Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar on the night of November 29 and remain in the state until the afternoon of December 1. This conference will be the main focus of his stay.

For the first time, Odisha will host this national DGP and IGP conference, which is scheduled from November 29 to December 1. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present, inaugurating the conference on the first day.

Apart from Modi and Shah, the conference will see participation from key national security officials, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, senior officers from the Intelligence Bureau, and DGPs from all states. Leaders from various national security organizations, such as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Security Guard (NSG), and Special Protection Group (SPG), will also be in attendance.

The primary aim of the conference is to evaluate the performance of states in managing law and order, while also discussing emerging security challenges. Topics like internal security, Left Wing Extremism, terrorism, cybercrime, and the implications of artificial intelligence tools on security will be addressed.

Harichandan highlighted the significance of Odisha hosting this event, calling it a "great honor" for the state. He emphasized that Odisha's role as the conference venue reflects its growing importance and development under the spotlight of the Prime Minister. This marks a step toward the state's aspiration to be a major growth driver in eastern India.

This will be the third visit of Prime Minister Modi to Odisha since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by Mohan Charan Majhi took over the state government. Previously, Modi attended the swearing-in ceremony of Majhi's cabinet on June 12, followed by another visit on September 17, his birthday, to launch the state's flagship Subhadra Yojana.
