PRAYAGRAJ: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday and took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. The PMÂ was joined by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for a boat ride on the Yamuna River before offering prayers to Maa Ganga.

Mahakumbh 2025 began on Paush Purnima (January 13) and is considered the world's largest spiritual and cultural event. The Mahakumbh will continue till Mahashivratri on February 26, drawing millions of devotees from around the world.
PM Modi has consistently worked to promote and protect India's spiritual and cultural traditions. During his previous visit to Prayagraj on December 13, 2024, he inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs.5,500 crore to improve infrastructure, connectivity, and facilities for pilgrims.
By 8.00, am. on Wednesday, over 3.748 million devotees took a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. This included more than ten lakh Kalpvasis and 2.748 million other pilgrims who arrived early in the morning to seek blessings.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, over 382 million people have bathed at the Sangam since Mahakumbh began, highlighting the event's immense spiritual and cultural importance.
On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk also visited Prayagraj for Mahakumbh 2025. Accompanied by CM Yogi Adityanath, the King participated in several religious activities, offered prayers at the Lete Hanuman Mandir, and toured the Digital Mahakumbh Experience Centre.
February 5 is an important day in the Hindu calendar because people celebrate Magh Ashtami and Bhishma Ashtami. It is also the day of Gupt Navratri, a very holy occasion. By 10 am, more than 10 lakh devotees had already taken a holy dip.
