Chhath Puja is a Hindu's festival celebrated across the country. Chhath Puja is also called Chhathi, Chhath Parv, Dala Puja and Surya Shashthi. Chhath Puja is the festival in which Sun God- Lord Surya is prayed. And this year Chhath Puja will be observed for four days that starts from October 24 to October 27. But the main festival falls on the 26th. So, considering today the third day of Chhath Puja which is also called  Chhath and it is also a very important day of the festival. It is considered as the toughest day as in this people fast without water and this fast continues until mid-night and last day.

In Chhath puja the rituals followed by holy bathing, fasting, refraining from taking water, standing in water for long periods of time and offering arghya to the rising and setting Sun. Hence, mainly a  Chhath puja is a festival to take blessings from Sun God and his wife Usha. Chhath Puja is celebrated mostly in the regions of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. As the folklore say it is believed that Lord Rama and his wife Sita had kept fast in the month of Kartik and offered prayers to the Sun God. After 14 years, when both of them returned from exile, Chhath Puja was celebrated.
