In order to make long-lasting friendship, the culture which Chhattisgarh has can be rarely seen anywhere in the world. It is not just a formality but to maintain a real friendship with each other. Mitan Day is a tradition that makes a relationship with friendship stronger than blood relations.

Due to this rare tradition of friendship and its unmatched merits, it has been ranked in the US at the University of Atlanta. Professor and researcher are here to study here from the US.

Many professors including Professor José Franklin of Atlanta University, has long been doing research on this tradition. Not only this, he himself has become its fan and in America also motivates everyone to celebrate Mitan Day. 

Pro. Jose says that he has written a book on the Indian culture, which is included in the course of Atlanta University. It includes chapters belonging to Chhattisgarh's culture and various traditions. In the course of the university, 'Mitan Badna' tradition has been expanded in detail. The tradition of maintaining a friendship with honesty is in Chhattisgarh, and nowhere else.

They tell American students about Mitan tradition in American universities, they become excited about it. As well as teaching in the university, Mitan has also preached in the United States. She says, "Today when a person is becoming selfish, in this era, this tradition is very much needed. Now in America, many people of all ages who have learned about this are adopting this tradition. They say that it gives them happiness."

In Chhattisgarh on Saptami of Shravan month this tradition of worshipping paddy seeds is followed. Its small plants are called Bhojli. After the worship of Gauri-Ganesh on the day fixed, exchange of tulsi leaves, Bhojli, Ganga Jalal, tattooing friend's name on the body, Mahaprasad of Jagannathpuri are given to each other as a token of love. In a small ceremony, people of the society become witnesses of this relationship.

"I have travelled in many parts of India. The traditions here are unique. Of course, Mitan is the highest tradition on the scale of true friendship in the world. Today the world is in dire need of such unique human values." says Pro. Joe Franklin
