International Yoga day 2018: Indian Armed Forces performs asanas in odd terrains

 Ladakh/Visakhapatnam [India], June 21 (NT): Showing an ultimate encouragement to millions of Yoga enthusiasts around the globe, Jawans of Indian Armed Forces on Thursday morning celebrated the 4th International Yoga Day in some the most hard topography.

Taking to twitter, Ministry of AYUSH showed Armed Forces practicing Yoga asanas in desert, river and on naval ships by sharing stunning pics.

In the cold desert of Ladakh, at an altitude of 18,000-feet The Himveers of Indo Tibetan Border Police performed the Surya Namaskar.

While another batch of ITBP jawans performed 'River Yoga' in Digaru River in Lohitpur, Arunachal Pradesh. The Jawans were half soaked in river water and practiced a number of asanas.

On the other hand Eastern naval command staff also performed yoga on-board the INS Jyothi in the Bay of Bengal off Visakhapatnam. Eastern Naval Command's submarine personnel also took part in the celebrations.

On a related note the idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September 2014. Today in Dehradun under the leadership of PM Modi around 5000 yoga enthusiast performed the yoga asanas to encourage the world about benefits of Yoga.(NT)
