Jammu & Kashmir: Polling is underway for the fourth and last phase of municipal elections in Jammu and Kashmir . There are156 candidates in fray in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts. Polling started at 6 am amidst tighten security arrangements.

Voter turnout recorded in Ganderbal is 6.4% & Srinagar is 1.6% till 10 am, in the fourth phase of urban local body elections.

K Poswal, SSP Ganderbal Jammu And Kashmirsaid that participation is good. and his team expect that as weather clears, turnout will be better. He asured that If someone attempts stone pelting, we'll take strict action.

He informed that there are more than 20 CAPF  and police jawans at each polling station and Mobile teams are also deployed.

Officials said that voting will take place at 308 polling stations across the state and would finish at 4 pm. Worth mention here eight municipal bodies spanning across six districts all in Kashmir Valley were slated to go to polls in the fourth and final phase of the crucial elections but out of the eight, only two will notice voting, while there will be no contest in the rest of the six bodies.

Here are the rest of the bodies –

Pattan in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, Pampore, Pulwama and Khrew in Pulwama district in south, Shopian Municipal Committee in Shopian district in south and Dooru Verinag in Anantnag district also in south Kashmir will have  no voting either because the candidates elected unopposed or no nominations were filed.
