Number of telecom subscribers in the country reaches to 117 million

By the end of June this year, the number of telecom subscribers in the country has reached 116.8 million. According to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Monday, the number of telephone subscribers in June increased 1.33 per cent compared to May. In this, the number of mobile phone subscribers rose by 1.55 crore to 114.65 crores.

In June, the highest number of 97 million customers were added by Reliance Jio. Idea Cellular customers increased by 6.3 million in June. At the same time, Airtel was able to add only 10,689 customers. Talking to BSNL, 2.44 lakh customers have been linked to their services. Tata Teleservices lost more than 1 million customers during this time due to the merger of the business in Airtel.

The number of users leaving Reliance Communications and MTNL was 1.08 lakh and 9,615 respectively. According to the TRAI data, the number of landline users continues to be low. Their numbers decreased to 2.24 crore in June, from 2.25 crore in May. However, the number of users of broadband service increased to 44.71 crore in June, which was 43.2 million in May. In June the total telecommunications density of the country reached 89.72. The urban area level was 158.16 and rural area was 57.99.
