MORBI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his anti –congress campaign the first of four Gujarat rallies tour today in the ballot –battle-decisive town of Morbi.

The center of Saurashtra, Morbi, is seen as an influencer for the adjacent areas which have tough links to the saffron BJP. But Morbi is also witnessed of the big confrontation headed by Hardik Patel in opposition to the ruling party.

"In good and bad times, we have stood with Morbi," the PM Modi said, "The same cannot be true for the Congress." PM said Morbi is distinctive of the well-known Gujarat model that he is credited with rising during his 13 years as Chief Minister. "The main issue in Kutch and Saurashtra when we came to power was water scarcity," PM said. "For the Congress, 'development' was giving hand pumps. For BJP, it is large irrigation projects and large pipelines that hold Narmada water."

Ongoing with the allegations that the opposition party Congress is anti-Gujarat, the PM stated, "When Indira-ben came to Morbi, she took a hankie to her nose against a stinking smell."

The bigger Morbi constituency has three of Gujarat's 182 assembly seats. Two are with the BJP and one with the Congress party. How the party takes action here will be seen as a test of the newly-introduced controversial GST or national sales tax, which exasperated lakhs of small traders, the genus that Morbi is packed with. The BJP's outcome here will also be used by the party to plan its strategy in the region for the next general election, now less than only two years left.
