Padmavati row: MP Jyotiraditya Scindia opposes to Tharoor’s comment on ‘Maharajas’

New Delhi: Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia seems disappointed from associate Congressman Shashi Tharoor’s comment on ‘Maharajas,’ with Scindia signifying that Tharoor study history before commenting such remarks.’

“I think he should take lessons from history. I am Jyotiraditya Scindia and I am proud of my past,” Scindia lauded reporters on Friday. Congress leaders Scindia, Digvijay Singh and Amarinder Singh are from royal families.

Talking to the threats against Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Tharoor had yesterday commented that the "so called valourous maharajas" had scurried to accommodate themselves when the British "trampled" over their honour and were now after a filmmaker, claiming that prestige was at stake.

becoming conscious on his comments  Tharoor took to Twitter to clarify.

“I am dismayed that some BJP supporters are claiming I attacked Rajput honour,” he tweeted. “I spoke about the Maharajahs who made their accommodations w/the British. I have never made a communal comment in my life.”

“As for specific concerns of the Rajput community, people's sentiments must be respected in the interests of India's diversity& harmony. Rajput valour is part of our history& is not in question. BJP &its censors should take these concerns into account,” he  futher tweeted.

The Rajput Karni Sena has been raised voicing protests and issuing threats to the director and cast of Padmavati, asserting that they will "cut off Deepika's nose  and behead Bhansali." Some fringe groups have even stated a bounty on the head of the two. The filmmaker Bhansali bowed under pressure and has agreed to screen the film for them prior to its release on December 1.

Padmavati, bankrolled by Bhansali Productions, stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
