Literally Paris symbolises romance, elegance, and style. Undoubtedly Paris is the most elegant and stylish city in the world. Let me tell you that this city just added another feather in its cap. According to the news reports, the Parisian Government has introduced a great initiative and that is to install sparkling tap water fountains in each of the city’s 20 different locations. The good part—people can get fresh water to drink for free anytime.

To Keep People Hydrate

Actually their main motto is to give clean drinking water. The Parisian Government decided to give the already available public drinking fountains a carbonated upgrade. These fountains are popularly called fontaine petillante by the locals and have been around the city since 2010.

According to the city water authorities, this initiative of adding fountains will help Parisians to remain hydrated. The former Deputy Mayor of Paris, Anne le Strat, in 2010 told a magazine “People often told me that they were ready to drink tap water if it was carbonated”. She added that now people will have no excuse to avoid drinking water as a new fountain has already been built, which shows that the project is already underway. It is speculated that around nine new fountains will be installed by December 2018.

A Good initiative to reduce Plastic Bottles

If people are offered sparkling water fountains, with stations to re-fill, they might eventually stop buying new bottles, thereby reducing plastic wastage. These fountains will be connected to the key water line, which will have a CO2 carbonator added to it. The reason behind adding CO2 when the water reaches the point of 44 degrees Fahrenheit is that it allows water to always have a cool and fresh flavour.
