President Ram Nath Kovind nominated four Rajya Sabha members

Rajya Sabha’s four seats that were vacated after the retirement of actress Rekha, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, social activist Anu Aga and lawyer K. Parasaran have received the nomination by President Ram Nath Kovind.

On Saturday, the President nominated social activist and former MP Ram Shakal, sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra, classical dancer Sonal Mansingh and RSS ideologue Rakesh Sinha. Worthy to share that the nominations came in the  Under article 80 of the Constitution in accords to which 12 upper house members are nominated by the President of India. These 12 members should have special knowledge or practical experience in respect of such matters as literature, science, art and social service.

Talking about these artist or social workers than Ram Shakal was MP elected from Robertsganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He devoted his life to the welfare of Dalit community, farmers, laborers and migrants.

Rakesh Sinha is a great columnist who represents his views via different newspapers. Apart from this, he is also the founder and Honorary Director of the Delhi-based think-tank, India Policy Foundation. He also has a respectable post as Professor of Motilal Nehru College of Delhi University and member of the Indian Council of Social Science Research.

Raghunath Mohapatra is the well known for carving a six-feet high statue of the God Sun carved in grey sandstone that can be found in the Central Hall of Parliament and Wooden Buddha in the Buddha Temple in Paris. He is in the same profession from 1959 onward and till now have trained around 2000 students in stone carving. He helped to preserve traditional sculpture and ancient monuments and have a helpful hand in the glorification of Jagannath Puri Temple.

Sonal Mansingh is a well-famed choreographer, teacher, orator and social activist who laid down the foundation of Centre for Indian Classical Dances in Delhi in 1977. Being one of the earliest exponents she is in the row of classical dance from six decades and since then have regularly performed Bharatnatyam and Odissi.
