Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Aug 1 (NT): In a unique initiative The Bhartiya Janta Party Raman Singh led Government introduced 'eco-friendly' wood - logs made out of cow dung - for funerals in Raipur with help of existing Municipal Corporation.

President of the organization Rajkumar Sahu which produces these logs said 'We'll also provide logs free of cost. We make this with help of a machine, which produces logs sufficient for 4 funerals daily.'

Pramod Dubey,Raipur Mayor Chhattisgarh said to the news agency ANI that to obtain wood for funeral, large numbers of trees are cut, damaging the environment and produces a lot of smoke, Therefore Organization took the step to opt for this eco-friendly method.  He added that this will also generate employment. The logs will be provided to all cemeteries.

Pramod Dubey also added that there are 20 big funeral places in Raipur, which will gain from these special logs made from cow dung. He further said this will put a stop to the cutting of trees in the state.

Raman Singh who is a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the chief minister of Chhattisgarh since December 7, 2003 appreciated the President of the organization Rajkumar Sahu for his environment protecting step.  (NT)
