Voting is taking place for 33 Rajya Sabha seats today. Rajya Sabha elections are being held in Uttar Pradesh (10 seats), Kerala (1), Chhattisgarh (1), Jharkhand (2), Telangana (3), Karnataka (4), and West Bengal (5). Results for the elections are likely to be out late evening today.

Raghuraj Pratap Singh, popularly known as Raja Bhaiya, has said that he has voted to support the Samajwadi Party's candidate Jaya Bachchan. His clarification comes after reports said that he would not cast his vote in the Rajya Sabha elections in order to ensure that he doesn't unintentionally end up helping the BSP.

The Bharatiya Janata Party seems to have made a dicey move by asking two of its MLAs not to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.  Due to which the number of MLAs voting today to 398. This further means that now a party will need 36 votes to get its candidate elected to the Rajya Sabha. Earlier, the requirement was 37 votes.

Amid the ongoing voting for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), MLA Anil Singh said he has voted for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"I have voted for BJP, I do not know about the rest," Singh told ANI on Friday.

For the 58 Rajya Sabha seats to be filled, 33 candidates from 10 states were declared elected unopposed on March 15.
