Saifuddin Soz Senior Congress Party leader, who allegedly launched his book, claimed that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the leader of Independent India had offered Kashmir to Pakistan dealing an exchange of Hyderabad.

During the media interactions of his Book launch event on Monday, Soz said, "Sardar Patel was a pragmatist and offered Kashmir to Liaquat Ali Khan (then Pak PM). He told him 'don't talk of Hyderabad, talk Kashmir; take Kashmir but don't talk of Hyderabad' as Khan was preparing for war and Patel wasn't."

Allegedly, Saifuddin made headlines by his controversial statement in which he supported the former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's take on Kashmir.
In his recently released book, 'Kashmir: Glimpses of History and the Story of Struggle', Soz affirmed that Musharraf's analysis of Kashmir "seems to be correct even today."

As quoted by the ANI, Soz asserted, "Musharraf said Kashmiris don't want to merge with Pakistan, their first choice is independence. The statement was true then and remains true now also. I say the same but I know that it is not possible."

Soz has criticised India in the past also and blamed our country for creating violence in the valleys of Jammu and Kashmir.
