NEW DELHI: In replying to the ruling BJP and a number of right-wing organizations for making the 'Hindu Pakistan' sneer, senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor on Friday took a micro blogging website Twitter and shared the popular song 'kuchh to log kahenge logon ka kaam hai kehnaa featured on Rajesh Khanna and sung by legendary Kishore Kumar.'
Congress party's Shashi Tharoor tweeted the song from the 1971 hit Bollywood movie 'Amar Prem'.
Worth mention here Tharoor had landed into a political controversy on Thursday by commenting that if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins 2019 Lok Sabha elections it will lead the country to make a 'Hindu Pakistan'.
Tharoor had commented while speaking an event in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
"If they (BJP) win a repeat in the Lok Sabha, our democratic constitution as we understand it will not survive as they will have all the elements they need to tear apart the constitution of India and write a new one. That new one will be the one which will enshrine principles of Hindu Rashtra, that will remove equality for minorities, that'll create a Hindu Pakistan”.
Justifying his Hindu Pakistan remark Congress MP Shashi Tharoor clarified that If BJP does not believe in Hindu Rashtra concept then they should say it on record that we do not believe in a Hindu Rashtra but in a secular republic.
He added that this would end the debate.
Criticizing Tharoor’s remark Union Min Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said that this is pure hallucination by Shashi Tharoor. He further said this is withdrawal symptoms of the fact that neither Congress are in power nor do they see power coming to them again.
He added that It's Congress that has infringed the Constitution and freedom of citizens:
Meanwhile The Congress party on Thursday did not made any remarks of senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s Hindu Pakistan speech. Tharoor had on Wednesday stated that India will become Pakistan if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win in 2019 general elections.
"I have said this before and I will say it again. Pakistan was created as a state with a dominant religion that discriminates against its minorities and denies them equal rights. India never accepted the logic that had partitioned the country," Shashi Tharoor said in his clarification.
