span style="font-size:14px;">On Friday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader S Ve Shekher has tendered an apology for his defamatory remark against the women journalists. In his statement, the leader said that he posted the comment on the social media site without reading it and he is apologetic for it.
In his statement, S Ve Shekher has said, "I had posted it without reading the message. It was removed immediately after my friend pointed it out. If I had hurt anyone, it was not on purpose and I extend my heartfelt apology," 
On the comments endorsed by the audience on the post, he said that he comes from a reputed family which respects women. Meanwhile, the renowned journalist from TN has lodged a police complaint against Shekher for his post. 
On the whole incident, the journalist fraternity says that BJP leader has given his views in such a way that it is not only slandering a journalist but is also derogatory to all woman. On the other hand, BJP KT Raghavan praised the Shekher for his apology. He also said that the matter should be put to rest with the apology. He further added that party would not support these types of things in future.
Earlier Shekhar has posted a comment remarking the journalists. In the post, which is now deleted, Shekher reacting on the apology of Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit for inappropriately touching a woman journalist's face said that the latter should "wash his hand with phenyl" for having touched the woman scribe.
