New Delhi: Two days following he poked fun at Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, saying Rahul Gandhi was his 'Captain', Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Monday stated that Captain Amarinder Singh is 'a father figure' to him and that he will sort out the issue with CM Singh.

Sidhu's remarks came after Sidhu's triggered a massive disturbance in Punjab Congress, with many state ministers seeking an admission of guilt from the former cricketer turned politician.

"You don't want to wash dirty linen in public. He (Capt Amarinder Singh) is a fatherly figure, I love him, I respect him, I will sort it out myself," Sidhu was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. Sidhu had, in a press conference in Hyderabad said, "My captain is Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He sent me everywhere (Kartarpur Corridor). Rahul is also the captain of our captain (Punjab Chief Minister)."

Worth mention here posters have been put up on streets in Ludhiana showing 'Punjab Captain is our captain'. "What Navjot Singh Sidhu stated about Capt Amarinder Singh is ill-fated. Such things should not have been asserted by him," stated Women and Child Development and Transport Minister Aruna Chaudhary.

Meanwhile Minister of Forests Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that it seems Sidhu has forgotten that he is a minister. Dharamsot  added that he should know he is not running a comedy show here.
