New Delhi [India], Oct 23 (NT): The national award winner Music maestro AR Rahman has joined the celebrities who provided thier support to the ongoing #MeToo movement in India.

Speaking well of the victims who have shared their alleged sexual harassment ordeals, The grammy award winner said he would be devoted to see "our industry become cleaner and respectful of women."

The 51-year-old musician took to Twitter to share his thoughts as saying. "Been observing the #metoo movement. Some of the names have shocked me... both the victims and their perpetrators. I would love to see our industry become cleaner and respectful of women. More power to all the victims coming forward!!" His statement on twitter read.

On the other hand, the Oscar-winning  Rahman also called attention to that "we should be careful in creating a new internet justice system, in case it's misused."

The #MeToo movement, which embarked on in Hollywood a year ago, took flight in India after Tanushree Dutta made allegations on Nana Patekar of allegedly harassing her on the sets of 'Horn Ok Pleassss' in 2008. The #MeToo campaign is now gaining momentum with allegations being levelled against well-known personalities from all the walks of life.

Worth mention here over the last month, several women have leveled allegations of sexual misdemeanors against Subhash Ghai, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Chetan Bhagat, Sajid Khan, and Varun Grover, among others.
