Union Minister for Parliamentary and Fertilizer Ananth Kumar passed away at age 59. Ananth Kumar was ill for some time after which, at two o'clock last night, he took his last breath. State funeral is to be accorded to late union minister Ananth Kumar and national flag is to fly at half-mast, as DD news tweeted. Ananth Kumar was on the ventilator in the ICU for several days. He was admitted to Shankar Cancer Hospital and Research Center where his treatment was underway. According to sources, he had cancer and infection in his lungs.

For his last glimpse his body will be kept in the National College of Bangalore today. Ananth Kumar was counted among BJP's veteran leaders in Karnataka. Ananth Kumar is considered an important contributor to establishing BJP in Karnataka. Ananth Kumar was a Lok Sabha MP from Bengaluru six times from the south. In May 2014, he became the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers. After this, in the year 2016, Modi Government also made him the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

Ananth Kumar was born on July 22, 1959 in Bengaluru and he took a BA degree from KS Arts College in Hubli and then studied practicing JSS Law College affiliated to Karnataka University. In Ananth Kumar's family, besides his wife Tejaswini, there are two daughters Aishwarya and Vijeta. Ananth Kumar has been elected as Lok Sabha MP from Bangalore South since 1996.
