New Delhi [India], Sep 5 (NT):The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear the plea filed by lawyer Manohar Lal Sharma seeking stay on the Rafal fighter jet deal with France. A Bench of Chief Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice AM Khanvilkar and DY Chandrachud considered the petition of Sharma, who has alleged in his petition that there were inconsistencies in the Rafale Deal.

This news may be quite appealing to the opposition party, because the opposition has been accusing the PM Modi led Central Government of making scams in purchasing 36 Rafale aircraft long before. Congress president Rahul Gandhi has claimed that under the deal made by the NDA, price has increased from Rs 520 crores to Rs 1,600 crores. The Congress has demanded a joint parliamentary inquiry on this deal, as well as the party has urged the government to reveal the value details of Raphael Jet. Also, in the matter of making Anil Ambani a partner in place of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, the Opposition is surrounded by the Center.

However, the government has cited the "privacy condition" that was signed in 2008, which prevents this statement from being made public, Union Minister Arun Jaitley has dismissed the allegations of Congress saying that the fully armed fighter aircraft The government is buying, 20 per cent cheaper than the ones presented under the previous UPA government. In 2015, Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that in the government deal, only 36 Rafale fighter jets were decided, and 126 French aircraft canceled the purchase.
