CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit got hauled into another storm by patting a women journalist on her cheek. It is to be noted that the former was already facing allegations regarding an audio tape in which Nirmala Devi, assistant professor of a Virudhunagar college was allegedly asking some students to put forward sexual favors to higher-ups to avail some extraordinary privileges.

This time a woman journalist who was present during the press meet at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, made allegations on TN Gov of patting her on the cheek. The governor was expounding his decision to order a investigation into the audio tape issue.

Almost immediately after the press meet, the woman journalist tweeted: “I asked TN Governor Banwarlilal Purohit a question as his press conference was ending. He decided to patronisingly — and without consent — pat me on the cheek as a reply.”

DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi was speedy fired his counter attack  tweeting, “Even if the intention is above suspicion, a person, who holds a public office has to understand that there is a decorum to it and violating a woman journalist’s personal space does not reflect the dignity or the respect which should be shown to any human being.”

TN journalists demanded the apology from Governor Purohit for patting cheek of the lady reporter
